CR.EU is the European strategic metacluster for the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), a voluntary, open and agile alliance connecting regional and national clusters and business support organisations across Europe. It is designed to enable inter-cluster, cross-border and cross-sector collaboration and to strengthen the European CCI ecosystem and value chains through knowledge exchange, cooperation and shared development priorities.
Today, CR.EU brings together stakeholders from 10 EU Member States—Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Greece—with five additional countries currently in the process of joining the network. By 2030, CR.EU aims to cover all 27 EU Member States, with at least two clusters per country, responding to the growing demand for stronger European-level coordination among creative clusters.
CR.EU does not replace territorial clusters, but supports them by creating a common space for networking, capacity building, collaboration and representation at European level.
As a European hub for CCI stakeholders including industry, academia, innovators, investors and public authorities, CR.EU helps identify ecosystem gaps, sector needs and growth opportunities, and channels evidence and market insights into European policy dialogue. It acts as a trusted interface between creative ecosystems and the European Union, contributing to more informed and effective policy design and implementation.
By 2030, CR.EU aims to be recognised as the reference European network representing the Cultural and Creative Industries business and innovation ecosystem. Its vision is to foster strong and innovative public–private partnerships, support sustainable growth, and help close structural gaps that limit the development and competitiveness of CCIs across Europe.
CR.EU’s mission is to support the innovation processes of its members by facilitating cross-border collaboration among industry actors and strengthening public–private partnerships for research and development. Through coordinated action at European level, CR.EU works to enhance the competitiveness, resilience and international positioning of the European Cultural and Creative Industries.
Through strategic priorities such as networking and collaboration, capacity building and knowledge sharing, advocacy and representation, innovation and sustainability, and the integration of digital technologies, CR.EU reinforces cooperation between clusters and stakeholders and contributes to the long-term development of a strong, connected and future-oriented European CCI ecosystem.
